This cabin was constructed as a tribute to William Albert Beebe who built a cabin on this spot in 1844. On September 13th, 1846, William, his wife Louisa Newton, and their four children fled Nauvoo after having their chimney shot off by cannon fire during the Three Day Battle in Nauvoo. When departing from Nauvoo, William and Louisa left behind two children, Julia and William Jr., who were buried in the Nauvoo Pioneer Cemetery.
